House of St Barnabas
The House of St Barnabas is a beautiful Georgian mansion on the corner of Soho square. For 160 years it operated as a homeless hostel, in latter years for women only.
In 2005, faced with the financial pressure of meeting hostel quality standards, the charity took the decision to review its services and set a new direction. Berkeley consultants worked with the board of Trustees to consider all the options available to them. Together they are delivering their vision of a unique “move on” centre. The centre, in partnership with commercial ventures, will bring homeless and disadvantaged people together in a positive environment that promotes healthy physical and emotional wellbeing.
"The Berkeley Partnership has been supporting the House of St Barnabas for the last year. This charity is going through a major change programme transforming a residential hostel into a state of the art life skills centre. Situated in a Grade 1 listed building in the heart of Soho our challenge is to use our building to maximum effect. The support from The Berkeley Partnership has been invaluable in facilitating our journey through the closure of the hostel, the establishment of our model of social enterprise and the development of strategy for installing a modern information technology infrastructure. This high calibre support has proved to be fundamental to our significant progress and "having fun" is an integral element of their approach!"

It's great to work with a bunch of people who are genuinely enthusiastic about the project. It's also not often you get the chance to install IT connectivity throughout a Georgian mansion in central London.
