Profile
Having graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Economics, I started my career in the insurance industry in the City. A move out of IT management into marketing was stymied when the business I was working for was taken over. Plan B was a career shift into consulting and I guess I’ve never looked back.
That was 1988, and two and a half years later I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to form Berkeley with four other colleagues. Since we set the firm up I’ve worked with many different clients across a range of sectors, including Marks & Spencer, NatWest, Barclays and Woolwich. More recently I’ve found myself back in the insurance sector in a couple of interim CIO roles and right now I’m working on the mobilisation of a global back-office consolidation project for a leading drinks company.
I’m also a great believer in having some out-of-work projects. So a few years ago I started learning the piano and more recently we’ve been renovating an old farmhouse in Italy. Married with three sons, I’m also an ardent West Ham fan, which I recognise is a heavy burden to carry.
