The Berkeley Partnership

Mike Owen

Profile

Following a childhood fondness for digging and Lego I completed a mechanical engineering degree from UMIST in 1997 (where I learnt how beer cans respond to high velocity impacts, amongst other things). Despite getting my hands dirty ‘fixing’ planes for British Airways I decided to pursue a career in consulting and joined Datamonitor.

Following 3 years working within Financial Services Technology I moved to Accenture in 2000 where I worked in the Banking Strategy practice. My main client whilst at Accenture was Lloyds TSB, where I worked in both the Retail and Wholesale banking businesses. The main focus of my work was in customer value analysis, business case development, business architecture design and even a bit of project delivery. This has stood me in good stead since I joined Berkeley, where I have dipped my toe in the petrochemicals sector and spent a year back in the comfort zone of financial services, working for a London based commercial insurer.

Outside of work, apart from Everton and my wife, my main love / frustration is DIY, where I have finally found a use for my engineering genes.
