GPs, fast fashion and an information revolution...
So what do they all have in common? Well, they all feature in the latest version of Unspun, Berkeley's newsletter which focuses on our raison d'ĂȘtre of supporting companies and industries in the midst of change. In Unspun 22 we discuss our recent work with Unilever and Marks & Spencer and our thoughts on the challenges facing the NHS.
Be prepared
Unilever recently streamlined its approach to management reporting to reduce complexity, achieve a faster European reporting timetable and improve the quality of information it could deliver to 170 users in 28 countries.
We look at how careful planning and teamwork helped crack the data challenge, and resulted in one of Unilever's "smoothest go-lives in recent times." Read more about Berkeley's programme management work with Unilever.
GP Commissioning - what's beneath the surface?
The Government is proposing a radical reform of commissioning, scrapping the Primary Care Trusts which currently deliver healthcare services to the population and handing this responsibility, and a budget in excess of £80bn to GPs. Recent press has described the concept as "distinctive" but also "highly risky"!
We explore the rationale behind the proposal and some of the challenges ahead for GP Commissioning.
Finding the best route
Cost control. Always desirable, in the current climate essential, especially in a retail sector characterised by tight margins. Marks & Spencer recently completed a rapid review to drive £3m in costs savings out of the logistics business of its Outlets operation.
We look at how business modelling helped Marks & Spencer identify immediate savings, avoid a costly risk to profitability and equip their team to continually deliver benefits into the future.
