Corporate Challenge comes around again
32 of Berkeley’s finest athletes donned the purple t-shirts and laced up their running shoes to complete the 25th annual JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. This year 22,000 runners participated in support of Barnardos charity for disadvantaged children and young adults, and as usual it was a 5.6km run round Battersea Park.
Luckily the rain dried up in time for the run, leaving runners with no weather-related excuses for pulling out (nice try Mr Sheldrick..). Ben Fearn ran away with the trophy this year (excuse the pun), getting round in a very impressive 21 minutes and 55 seconds, making him the second Fearn on the Berkeley cup and earning him a spot in the fastest 500 Men on the night!
With reigning champion Simon B out of contention (injured toe, very David Haye), Neil McClumpha came in second place (again!) with 22.54 with Jeroen Hodges taking third on his debut in 23.58.
Ops Manager, David Winterflood, can give himself a pat on the back for bumping a massive 4 minutes off last year’s time. Has someone been doing a secret spot of training? Check out the gallery for a glimpse of the action.
