I graduated from UMIST (Manchester University) in 1998 with a degree in Management Science, and joined PicewaterhouseCoopers Graduate Trainee programme. Looking back, I think the main attraction at the time was a (relatively!) good starting salary, but also the slightly less shallow reason of wanting a role that would allow me to work across a broad range of businesses and in different industry sectors.
In 2000 I moved to Accenture where I worked in their Financial Services, and later Communications & Technology Practices. After nearly five tough but very rewarding years working on large business change programmes at Accenture, I decided to take a bit of risk and join a brand new consulting business that was being set up by a major software company. Here I gained first-hand experience of setting up a new business from scratch and being able to personally influence the culture and style of consulting that was being taken to market and engaging directly with senior client executives.
In 2008 I decided to make up for never taking that ‘gap year’ after graduating, and went on a worldwide trip with my now wife. Upon returning, I made a really quick and easy decision to join Berkeley Partnership. The calibre of the people at Berkley combined with a common sense and positive approach to engaging with clients was something I found attractive, and the opportunity to again work across different industries was also something I also found very appealing.
Travelling is something that is very important to me, and I have been lucky enough to travel extensively, more recently in Africa & Latin America. I am also an avid fan of Liverpool Football Club, and enjoy the odd trip to the races.
