Tom Parkin
Consultant
After studying engineering both at Bristol University and Toulouse in France, I decided I would be happier solving business problems rather than engineering ones. A career in management consultancy beckoned…
I spent almost all my pre-Berkeley days at Accenture, working in just about every possible role there is to have on big IT projects. Since joining Berkeley in 2009, I’ve continued with the “bread and butter” of IT project management, but have been lucky enough to broaden my experience through both IT and supply chain strategy projects. My industry expertise lies primarily in the pharmaceutical and logistics sectors but I’ve also spent time in retail and government departments.
Over the years I’ve worked in a wide range of locations- my morning commute has varied from leisurely drives over Sydney Harbour Bridge, to walking between snake charmers on the streets of Bangalore. In between the more exotic climes, I've spent plenty of time with some great clients through the UK and Europe.
When not grappling with client problems, I enjoy spending weekends messing around with classic cars- a test of patience if ever there was one. And if that wasn't enough to leave me trying to clean paint or oil from myself just before that important meeting on a Monday morning, I don't mind doing the odd bit of DIY here and there!
