Piers Virik
Consultant
I studied modern History at the University of East Anglia in Norwich after which I decided not to join the Army (University life having softened me up) and following some time travelling found myself at Andersen Consulting.
I started in early 1999 and spent a couple of years involved in large system implementation programmes working with clients on business acceptance and process testing. I then enjoyed working with a wide range of predominantly Public Sector clients on varied strategic and business change challenges from helping improve operational performance to defining e-business strategies. More recently, having been deemed to have had far too much fun, I was asked to help to bring back on track a very challenging national system implementation rollout which brought its own highlights!
I wanted to continue my consulting career but by staying close to clients and their business challenges and opening myself up to new opportunities. In this respect Berkeley seemed to fit the bill in a number of really important ways.
I’m married to Claire and we have two young daughters so home life is now more hectic! Hopefully I’ll be able to hold the line and continue to do a bit of sailing and as much travelling as we can. I’m also determined to defy Claire for a few more years by continuing to buy obscure CD’s that I then only manage to listen to once!
