Will Rivers
Consultant
I graduated from the University of Manchester with an MSc in Marketing before joining the Tesco group on their Global IT Management graduate training scheme. It was a great opportunity to finally put into practise all the theory I had learnt in the lecture room, especially in an environment as competitive and fast-moving as the UK’s supermarket industry.
However after a relatively short period of time I realised that I was looking for a different challenge and having seen some management consultants in action I was instantly hooked. I decided to move on and pursue a career in management consultancy which ultimately took me to KPMG’s advisory practice. Being one of the “Big 4”, KPMG was a great place to learn the trade, and I really enjoyed getting stuck in and helping some great companies including Unilever, BP, De Beers, T-mobile, Nestle and Centrica.
I joined The Berkeley Partnership in early 2008, having observed them working out at clients where I really admired the way they rolled up their sleeves and became a welcome and integral part of the client’s management team, whilst always putting quality and the client’s interests first. Since then I have been lucky enough to undertake a great mixture of strategy and transformation roles at a number of clients.
Outside of work I am a bit of a 'wine geek'. I spend time going to tastings, ‘swotting up’ on the latest wine books, travelling to wine regions, investing in my rather meagre wine collection, and slowly but surely getting my wine qualifications.
