After a degree at Cambridge in German, French and Russian and a year’s English teaching in Vienna, I landed back in the UK and cut my consulting teeth at Accenture on some major central government initiatives.
In my first few years at Berkeley, I branched out in many different directions, working in fund management, retail, oil and gas, bookmaking and the financial markets. My most satisfying two years were spent doing a soup to nuts start-up of the National Lottery Charities Board, now the Big Lottery Fund.
Since 2004 I have been responsible for our work in the NHS. This has been a brilliant journey encompassing work at national level with Department of Health, the National Programme for IT and NHS Institute and at the local level with a good number of primary care trusts and providers on strategy, organisation development and programme management. Recent focus has been on acute strategy and GP commissioning development, with a bias towards the integration of services to improve quality and value for money for you and me as taxpayers.
When not at work my greatest pre-occupations are travel and choral singing. Otherwise you might find me Kindle in hand or in the stands at Loftus Road – with QPR now back in the big time the ride will not be dull!
