Katharine Brecknell
Recruitment Manager
After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a degree in History, I wasn’t quite sure which direction to head career wise so I decided to move to Japan where I spent 3 years teaching English. This really was the experience of a life time, and whilst I realised teaching wasn’t the career for me, it did leave me with a real love of Japanese food, culture and Karaoke!
I began my recruiting career at KPMG before moving to Deutsche Bank to support professional recruiting in the Group Management Consulting and audit divisions. After a year, I moved to Citadel, an American hedge fund, where I was recruiting across various front and back office functions including Commodities, Global equities and their intern programme.
I joined Berkeley in September 2018 and have enjoyed bringing my varied experience to a new environment where recruitment is really valued. Berkeley’s fantastic ethos and culture as well as it’s drive to recruit the most talented individuals really appealed to me and I am excited to be an integral part of the people strategy for the business going forward.
Outside of work I enjoy stand-up comedy, theatre and hiking. I have also travelled extensively in Asia, South and Central America but there are always more places to visit- next on the hit list are Sri Lanka and South Africa!
