Having graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Economics, I started my career in the insurance industry in the City. A move out of IT management into marketing was stymied when the business I was working for was taken over. Plan B was a career shift into consulting and I guess I’ve never looked back. A few years later I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to form Berkeley with four other colleagues. Since we set the firm up I’ve worked with many different clients across a range of sectors, including Unilever, Burberry, Booking.com and AstraZeneca. I’ve also spent quite a lot of time back in the insurance industry, including taking on a couple of interim CIO roles. Whilst I’ve worked across the full range of strategy and delivery projects, I have a particular interest in change management and organisational design and development. In my experience, getting the people aspects right is absolutely key to realising the benefits of any investment in a strategy or transformation initiative. Out of work, I play the piano badly and can sing only a little better. I’m also an ardent West Ham fan, which I recognise is a particularly heavy burden to carry.
