After graduating from the University of Birmingham in 2007 with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, my enthusiasm for working with people and an inclination for project based work led me to the door of consulting via six months in South and Central America. I joined Accenture in 2008 and remained there for 7 years, primarily focused on the Oil & Gas industry, but also gaining experience in the Retail and Pharmaceutical spaces as well. I spent a significant amount of time at Royal Dutch Shell delivering a number of IT and business initiatives across the Downstream business including bespoke application delivery, retail alliance mobilization, IT strategy definitions and global site system platform implementations.
Berkeley stood out for me when assessing my options after Accenture. Not only is the quality of work exceptionally high but the quality of people and the openness they work with the client and colleagues was refreshing and driven by only what was best for the client. I’ve really enjoyed working within a smaller company in a more personable environment, allowing individuals to leverage the skills of the whole organisation and not just the direct team on the ground with the client.
Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit through a number of sports although more and more I’m moving on from the injury prone sports of water polo, rugby and hockey and focusing more on triathlons where I try to participate in the obligatory one a year to keep the “triathlete” tag. In effort to broaden my cultural horizons, I like to visit a gallery with my young family when I can and have recently purchased a couple of pieces to add to the budding collection.
