Having studied chemistry at Oriel College, Oxford and written my thesis on how the development of electrical technology impacted society in the nineteenth century, I was torn between two highly relevant careers: infantry officer or management consultant. The safety of our islands is all the greater for my choice of Andersen Consulting, where I started in January 1999.
My specialism is working closely with senior clients to help them address their most difficult challenges: shaping and delivering critical business and IT change initiatives; developing business strategies they can really believe in; and managing stakeholders, teams and third parties to find the best way to achieve results. I have worked across a number of industries – retail, consumer goods and manufacturing, waste management, transport, banking and telecoms – and in companies ranging from major multinationals to start-ups, in both the private and public sectors. I joined Berkeley in early 2008.
Outside work, I am married to Charlotte and personal interests are inevitably tied up with our children Rory and Hector. When I get the chance I am kept busy by involvement in a church charity in the City, drinking good English beer and following the Scotland rugby team from one triumph to another.
