After studying Engineering at Trinity College Cambridge, I joined Andersen Consulting working on a wide variety of projects across Oil and Gas, Utilities, Telecoms and Government. It was a terrific grounding but after almost seven years, I knew I needed a new type of challenge.
When I first encountered Berkeley in 1994, I was intrigued by this young independent consultancy tackling very demanding projects within an impressive blue chip client list. I liked the idea of a firm ‘punching well above its weight’, with a strong focus on integrity and client service. I took the plunge, joined Berkeley, and have never looked back. I became a partner in 1998.
During my twenty years at Berkeley I feel privileged to have been involved in some of our client’s largest transformation initiatives. A career highlight in the late 90’s was managing the LIFFE CONNECT™ Programme which transitioned the LIFFE open outcry market onto a world leading electronic trading platform. Another highlight has been the opportunity to work with a leading energy super major helping them to shape and then deliver a root and branch transformation of their global energy trading capabilities.
Over the last ten years I have specialised in tackling complex, high stakes, delivery assurance assignments frequently reporting at Board level. I also enjoy working on turnaround interventions helping large scale programme teams to overcome acute difficulties.
Outside of work I try to keep fit with a mix of tennis, cycling and swimming. I also continue to chip away at my ambition to play the piano half decently – definitely a long term project!
