Berkeley’s flat structure (only Consultants and Partners), deployment of individuals or small teams of consultants as an extension of client’s leadership teams, and admin / policy-light model is genuinely unique compared to anything else I have seen in the consulting industry.
Having spent most of my career working across various sectors, services and geographies there’s no one type of project that really excites me – fundamentally I enjoy anything that involves solving complex problems at the top of clients’ strategic priorities, and delivering real measurable impact.
Having gotten halfway through an English Literature degree with no obvious career plans I decided to apply for an internship at a Big Four. Once there I found that I enjoyed the problem-solving, variety and analytical rigour of consulting. Fast forward a decade and the same things that drew me to it then still hold true; I can’t really think of another career that offers the same level of challenge, breadth or development and I continue to find it stretching and rewarding today.
