1 Why did you join Berkeley?
I believe Berkeley really embodies all the best parts of consulting: variety of projects, meaningful relationship building, and opportunities to properly embed yourself in client teams to help solve important challenges. At Berkeley, you are encouraged to try different things and broaden your skillset as a consultant, whilst getting the right level of support to help you as you do so. Without the usual pressures of sales targets or internal competition, you get the chance to deliver great work in a way that works best for the client and for you. The culture of Berkeley also really stood out to me. It’s a fun, supportive place where people look out for each other and make the effort to create a truly inclusive and social atmosphere.
2 What core value or approach do you use to help clients achieve their aspirations?
The core value that guides how I approach my work with clients, and other areas of my life more generally, is empathy. I try to really understand where someone is coming from, how a situation feels for them, and what truly matters beneath the surface. Keeping their perspective at the heart of every decision helps to ensure that the solutions we create are not only practical, but genuinely aligned with their aspirations. It also builds trust, which is essential for navigating complex or sensitive challenges. When clients know you are genuinely on their side, it becomes much easier to make meaningful, lasting progress together.
3 Why did you choose your career?
I studied Psychology at university and had no idea what I wanted to do in my career! A few of my friends were applying for consulting jobs and internships at the time, so I looked into it and thought it seemed pretty interesting. Somehow, with minimal knowledge of what to expect, I managed to get a summer internship at a big 4 firm in HR consulting and ended up really enjoying it! I began my career as a graduate consultant the following year and the rest is history.
What I enjoy most about consulting is the variety. Each project brings a new challenge, new people to connect with and learn from, and a completely different problem to solve. It feels as though I am starting a whole new job every time I step into an engagement, while still being part of the same organisation, which keeps my work both engaging and energising.
