Why did you join Berkeley?

I joined Berkeley to broaden my experiences. It was the opportunity to do something different either in industry or type of work that I found attractive. It is evident that doing a good job matters a lot and there is no expectation or pressure to do lots of business development work, something that has helped me develop. Overall, though, I think the dedicated time to work directly with clients helping them overcome their challenges and being rewarded for doing the right thing by the client is so very satisfying. In the months leading up to joining Berkeley I was struck by how much time partners spent with prospective consultants and it very much signalled to me that Berkeley was a company that was a positive place to work and somewhere I could fit in.

What types of work projects excite you the most?

The type of projects that excite me the most are those where I know I can make a real difference and help the people I work with. It's where I can relate what I am doing at the time to the end consumer, public or other business and see the mutual benefit in what we are doing.

I have been fortunate to work with the NHS and also with a major retailer in the last couple of years and you can see the impact of what you are doing on the people who work for those organisations day in day out. I think it is also hugely beneficial where you can work with companies who have a vision and want you to help them achieve that. I am a positive person and like trying to overcome challenges so when you have a mix of that and seeing you are doing the right thing for clients then projects become very enjoyable. 

3  What are you passionate about in life?

I am passionate about my family and trying to enjoy life with them, ideally travelling, cooking, eating or involved in sport. I have a young family and therefore life is hectic but nothing beats new adventures with them. I enjoy exploring new places, taking in either new surroundings, new countries and cultures or new experiences. I like it when my kids experience something for the first time and are curious about it and asking lots of questions. I really enjoy that they have a similar passion for learning and especially finding new places. I find this helps me clear my mind as well as learning a few things along the way. I believe it’s important to be sociable, meet people and broaden your own understanding from meeting a diverse set of people as possible.
