What’s different about Berkeley for you?

For me, one of the key differentiators of Berkeley is that the consultants are given the freedom and the tools to focus all our efforts on our client work thus allowing us to do what is always best for them. The removal of distractions such as sales targets or cumbersome internal bureaucracy means that we can fully dedicate ourselves to our client’s agenda and ensure that we're doing the right thing for them. In doing so we are able to be trusted partners to our clients, as they know we only have their best interests in mind and this only helps to bolster the long term relationships that we want to build.

What’s the most important thing you learned at Berkeley?

I have learnt the importance of building long term relationships – this ethos is drilled in from day one. Whilst this may seem like a simple lesson, I feel that it is one that is often overlooked in the world of management consultancy. Too often consultants will focus on their current engagement, do a great job and then move onto the next job without looking back. Here at Berkeley whilst we of course focus on delivering excellent work for our clients, we also ensure that we are building relationships and maintaining them even after the work is done. The proof of this really is in the pudding - 90% of our engagements come from either repeat business or referrals.

3  What are you passionate about in life?

Outside of work my main passions are traveling and cooking – and I’m happiest when I get to combine the two. From a young age I was fascinated learning about different cultures – something that probably stemmed from many a trip to India with my parents, and this is something that has stuck with me.

I have been fortunate enough to visit a fair few countries, with some of the highlights being honeymooning across Japan, canyoning in the Azores and whale watching off the coast of Maine. I look forward to being able to board planes and share my love of travelling with my young son, Theo.

Where possible I love to take a cooking course whilst abroad because what better way to learn about a culture that discovering their local cuisines! At home, I spend a lot of time perfecting my BBQ technique, despite the temperamental weather.
